Police seek witnesses as shots fired at North Vancouver home

Shots fired at home

Shots were fired at a North Vancouver home Sunday, but police are still trying to determine much of the situation.

North Vancouver RCMP are trying to determine the suspects, targets and motive after gunfire was reported on the 400 block of East 11th Street about 3 a.m.

It appears no one was struck, police say.

"Witnesses reported seeing two individuals, one of whom fired at the residence, flee the scene in a vehicle immediately after the shooting," RCMP state in a press release. "The vehicle, which is described as a newer model white Toyota Rav 4, was last seen southbound on Moody Ave. from East 11th Street."

They're looking for anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area at that time to contact them.

While specific targets aren't known, police note the residence is known to them after reports of drugs and violence over the past few months.

North Vancouver officers are working closely with our policing partners to determine who may have been responsible for this shooting, what the motive might have been, and what, if any, connection there is to other shootings in the Lower Mainland, says North Vancouver spokesperson Sgt. Peter DeVries.

Forensic investigators are at the scene.

DeVries says local police are taking gun violence seriously.

"We stand united with our partners across all our communities to stand up against these reckless acts that endanger our neighbourhoods," he says. "We will continue to do everything we can to disrupt perpetrators of gun violence before they have a chance to act, and to relentlessly pursue those responsible to ensure they are held to account."
