The Bearhole Lake wildfire near Tumbler Ridge and Kelly Lake is now considered held.
The B.C. Wildfire Service said in an update Sunday the fire is no longer considered a wildfire of note, and “is not expected to grow beyond its current footprint.”
"Recent heavy rains have consolidated the gains made by ground crews, equipment and supporting personnel in containing the Bearhole Lake wildfire after it sparked Aug. 31," the agency tweeted.
Bearhole Lake Provincial Park remains closed, and an area restriction remains in place as crews continue to mop up and patrol the fire.
All evacuation orders and alerts related to the fire have been lifted.
The fire burned an estimated 6,499 hectares.
