BC RCMP investigating Trail officer accused of hosting satirical website

Trail Mountie under fire

A B.C. Interior RCMP officer is in hot water after launching a satirical, political website called the Church of Trudeau.

CBC News is reporting that the website was created and hosted by Trail RCMP officer Brent Lord and contained satirical content mocking the Prime Minister and funding of Indigenous and LGBTQ+ communities. The website and associated videos have since been taken down, however some remnants remain online.

In a statement to Castanet, BC RCMP senior media relations officer Staff Sgt. Kris Clark said they are aware of the website and videos produced by one of their officers.

"The RCMP, upon learning of the website, acted quickly to have the discriminatory and offensive content taken down as well as address any internal conflict within the affected workplace. A fulsome review of the highly unprofessional offending materials was completed and administrative options are being considered."

The CBC report indicates in the videos they investigated, officer Lord was playing a character called Father B, professing to be "the High Prophet of the Church of Trudeau." According to the report, Lord says the satirical website is about, "[stating] our religion teaches the importance of socialism, of cancelling everyone that offends anyone, of being woke and highly emotional."

The RCMP did not indicate what if any action they intend to take against the offending officer but says they are taking the investigation seriously.

"Public trust is essential for the RCMP to effectively serve and protect Canadians. As a result, RCMP employees must conduct themselves in a manner that not only meets, but exceeds, the rightfully high expectations of Canadians as well as our own Code of Conduct," said Clark.

"The website and videos were not representative of the views of the RCMP, nor its employees as a whole, rather, they were the expressions of an individual. The content and viewpoints on the website fell far short of meeting the levels of professionalism expected of our officers. Discrimination has no place in the RCMP," Clark continued.
