A police officer was “in disbelief” after stopping a motorist doing 108 km/h past a Qualicum Beach school, RCMP say.
An 83-year-old in a Mercedes-Benz was pulled over for excessive speeding in the 50 km/h zone in front of Kwalikum Secondary on Tuesday, resulting in a $368 ticket and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
“Our officers spend time enforcing speed zones at all of our local schools and we remind the motoring public to take care and slow down in school zones in order to keep everyone safe and avoid hefty fines and vehicle impounds,” Sgt. Shane Worth said.
