The West Kelowna Warriors ran into a red hot goaltender in Prince George Wednesday night.
Jordan Fairlie turned away 34 shots, including key saves over the final two minutes,leading the hometown Spruce Kings to a 3-1 victory over the Warriors.
The Warriors were 52 seconds away from taking the game to overtime where they are unbeaten this season, when defenceman Dylan Schivas went end-to-end before squeezing the game winner past Johnny Derrick.
John Herrington's second of the night into an empty net seconds after Fairlie made a spectacular glove save, sealed the victory.
Herrington spotted the Spruce Kings a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the opening period.
Despite numerous chances, including six with the man advantage, the Warriors were unable to find the equalizer until Chase Defoe finally solved Fairlie with 12 minutes to go in regulation time.
"It was one of those games," said assistant coach Ayrton Nikkel.
"I think we had our chances. We just have to bury them."
The Warriors outshot Prince George 35-28.
West Kelowna lost the services of forward Brennan Nelson and defenceman Tyson Jugnauth to injury during the game.
Nikkel was unable to update their status following the game.
The Warriors continue their road trip in Trail Friday night.
