West Kelowna Warriors get commitments from two players from US camp

Warriors add 2 from camp

The West Kelowna Warriors didn't come away empty handed from their recent US development camp.

The Warriors announced Tuesday they have received commitments from two players who were prominent during the camp in Boston.

Nineteen-year-old defenceman Bobby May and 16-year-old forward Matthew Lee will both don Warrior colours in the fall.

May had three goals and 23 points with USHS-Prep Kimball Union Academy last season.

“Bobby was one of the top defenders on his team this season at KUA. He’s a player who keeps the game simple and will frustrate the opposing teams forwards," said Warriors head coach Simon Ferguson.

For his part, the 5'11", 181 pound May describes himself as a shutdown, puck moving defenceman who likes to jump into the rush.

Lee meantime was an offensive force with Bishop Kearney's U16 selects. Over 82 games, Lee scored 60 times and added 56 assists for 116 points and just four penalty minutes.

"Matt plays the games with a high level of IQ and compete, but also has the ability to put the puck in the net," said Ferguson.

The two join other high-level recruits expected to suit up next season, including defenceman Nolan Joyce, and forwards Ben MacDonald, Jaiden Moriello, Kailus Green & Felix Caron.

The Warriors will hold another US development camp next month in Anaheim.
