Sixth of seven Penticton Vees defencemen signs to college program

Another Vee commits

A Penticton Vees defenceman has committed to the University of St. Thomas for the 2023-24 season.

Mason Poolman, 20, is currently in his second and final season with the Vees, who are as-yet undefeated this season with a 16-0 record.

Last year, Poolman chalked up 11 points in 32 games plus two assists in seven playoff games in the spring, part of a campaign that ended with the Vees taking home the Fred Page Cup.

He is the brother of former Vee Colton Poolman. His commitment to St. Thomas in Minnesota means the Vees now have six of seven defencemen committed to college programs.

He is the 17th player on the Penticton roster to commit to an NCAA Division l program.

The Vees will be fighting to keep their perfect record this weekend after a few days off, hosting the Vernon Vipers on Nov. 11 at the South Okanagan Events Centre at 7 p.m., followed by a visit to Trail to tackle the Smoke Eaters.
