Warriors lose their first game of 2023, falling 3-1 in Cranbrook

Warriors win streak over

The West Kelowna Warriors winning streak is over at five.

The Warriors kicked off a string of seven straight away from Royal LePage Place Friday on the wrong end of a 3-1 score in Cranbrook.

The Warriors came out strong in the first, registering the first six shots, but were unable to beat Nathan Airey in the Bucks net.

Cranbrook managed just five shots in the opening 20.

It was a different story in the second as the Bucks outshot the Warriors 13-4 and scored the only two goals in the period.

Blake Cotton at 2:55 and Cameron Kungle on a power play 12 minutes later beat netminder Cayden Hammings.

Michael Salandra cut the deficit in half on a Warriors power play 7:23 into the third when he beat Airey from the right circle.

Donovan Frias restored the two goal lead 13 minutes into the third.

The Warriors were unable to solve Airey the rest of the way.

The win moved the Bucks five points clear of the Warriors in second in the Interior Conference

West Kelowna continue its seven game road swing Saturday in Salmon Arm.
