Dear Cop: Check Speedometer

Dear Cop
Is there any way (barring getting a speeding ticket) that a person can check the accuracy of their speedometer if they suspect it is out of whack?

Answer From Dear Cop
You would have to contact local mechanics shops to see if they have a "dynamometer". This device can measure speed, rpm's and some can measure horsepower of a vehicle. This is the only true way to check the accuracy of your speedometer. If you have changed the size of tires on your vehicle, this can and probably will effect the reading on the speedometer.
