Dear Cop - Bylaw For Music

I was wondering what the current bylaws are for music and if it's still allowed during the day? Is it still the typical off before 11PM? What is constituted as too loud? What are the fines associated with this?
D.W.

This is a municipal bylaws question. In Kelowna, the Noise and Disturbances Control Bylaw no. 6647 section 3.3 indicates that a person must not operate a radio, stereophonic equipment or instrument to disturb any person. The fine is $100. This law applies 24 hours a day. There are certain decibel levels which constitute too loud, but this may vary from municipality to municipality. Contact your local bylaw department for further information.
