Bindi Irwin weds

Conservationist Bindi Irwin has reportedly married fiance Chandler Powell, just hours before Australia's coronavirus lockdown on the number of guests at weddings came into play.

The 21-year-old daughter of late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin is said to have exchanged vows with Chandler at Australia Zoo on Tuesday, with images showing a white dress - presumably Bindi's wedding gown - being shielded from cameras by a host of white umbrellas.

Aerial footage of the zoo showed flower arches and palm trees lining an outdoor ceremony venue at the zoo, while photographers, camera crews and a guitarist at the end of the aisle was also seen.

Bindi and Chandler, who got engaged in July, previously expressed that they'd love for their nuptials to be televised.

And having the ceremony at Australia Zoo, with her nearest and dearest present, was something Bindi was determined to make happen.

"The most important thing is getting married here at Australia Zoo because this is where I feel closest to Dad," Bindi revealed. "So there's going to be a whole lot of planning that goes into the wedding day.

"At the heart of it all, I want to make sure that my mom is there, my brother is there, and that it's a really close family event, and we'll remember dad, whether it's a clip that we play of Dad or something that just reminds us of him. But, you know, we'll plan it out perfectly."

The reported wedding came just hours before Australia's crackdown on social gatherings to reduce the spread of coronavirus, with Prime Minister Scott Morrison announcing that from midnight on Wednesday, weddings will only be allowed to take place with the couple, the celebrant, and witnesses totalling a maximom of five people in attendance.
