Beloved U.S. TV presenter Regis Philbin died from a heart attack, coroners have confirmed.
The longtime Live! With Regis & Kathie Lee and Who Wants to be a Millionaire? host passed away on Friday, aged 88, and officials at the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Farmington, Conn., have revealed their autopsy findings.
A spokesperson tells the New York Post's Page Six Philbin suffered a myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, due to coronary artery disease and hypertension - high blood pressure.
The TV legend's family went public with the news of his death on Saturday, explaining he died of "natural causes".
On Monday, his loved ones issued a new statement, revealing they have been "overwhelmed by the outpouring of love" they had received in the wake of Philbin's loss.
He will be remembered with a memorial service and burial at his Indiana alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, although a date for the funeral has yet to be announced.
