Lonestar frontman quits

Lonestar frontman Richie McDonald has quit the country group a decade after rejoining the band in 2011.

Richie is departing to form a new trio, the Frontmen of Country, with Tim Rushlow and Restless Heart frontman Larry Stewart.

"With everything that has happened in the past year, it has made me think about other things I want to do in life," McDonald says in a press release. "This opportunity with the Frontmen came up, and I've decided to go a new direction."

McDonald, Michael Britt, Randy Rainwater, Dean Sams and John Rich formed the band that would become Lonestar in 1992. Richie left the Amazed hitmakers in late 2007 and released a Christmas collection and two solo albums before reuniting with the group in 2011.

"I want to thank my bandmates Dean, Keech and Michael for a great run," McDonald adds. "I wish them nothing but the best."
