Chris Noth was reluctant to return to Sex and the City franchise

Reluctant to return to 'Sex'

Actor Chris Noth was "hesitant" to sign up for the new Sex and the City spin-off series.

Noth will reprise his role as Mr. Big, the love interest of Sarah Jessica Parker's lead character Carrie Bradshaw, for the upcoming HBO Max series And Just Like That..., but he wasn't initially sure it'd be a good move.

He told Yahoo Finance Live: "It was a little bit of a sort of creative negotiation, because I didn't really feel I had anything to offer in that role again. It kind of felt like I had done it."

Fortunately, producers were able to win Noth over when they shared their visions for the drama revival.

"(Executive producer) Michael Patrick King is just an incredible writer and has incredible creative ideas," he said.

"Once we got together and talked about the potential of what we could do with the character, I was all in."

In addition to Parker, Chris will be reunited with show regulars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis - who play Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York Goldenblatt, respectively - in the reboot, although Kim Cattrall won't be back as Samantha Jones.

Fellow co-stars David Eigenberg, Willie Garson, Mario Cantone, and Evan Handler were also recently confirmed to return to the Sex and the City franchise, which will introduce actress Sara Ramirez as non-binary character Che Diaz.

Sex and the City debuted in 1998 and ran for six seasons until 2004.

It also spawned two movie spin-offs.
