Irene Cara has died at age 63.

According to TMZ, the singer behind the 1980s hits “What a Feeling” and “Fame” passed away at her Florida home Friday.

The cause of her death has not been reported at this time.

Cara won an Oscar in 1984 for her song “What a Feeling,” from the film Flashdance. She also took home a Grammy that year for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

In addition to providing the vocals for “Fame” for the movie of the same name in 1980, she also played Coco Hernandez in the film. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her work in the movie.

She went on to star in other films in the 80s, alongside Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds

“It is with profound sadness that on behalf of her family I announce the passing of Irene Cara,” her representative said in a statement to TMZ.

“Irene’s family has requested privacy as they process their grief. She was a beautifully gifted soul whose legacy will live forever through her music and films."
