Around 80 people will be throwing horseshoes in Kamloops this weekend

The shoes will be flying this weekend at the Kamloops Horseshoe Club.

The sport's provincial championship will be taking place at the club's...field? Hold on while we look that up.

OK, so it looks like you compete on a pitch when participating in a game of horseshoes.

There are four categories for competition: Open Men's, Open Women's, Pee Wee and Elders.

Some top contenders will be in Kamloops for the games, including former two-time world junior champ Lindsay Hoggins, out of Ladysmith, according to a press release. Victoria's Tom Moffat, the six-time (and current) provincial champ in the Open Men's category, will be looking to take home another trophy but others, like rival Tony Rondow (who's a five-time champ), will be aiming to make their own mark.

Teams will be taking to the pitch (did we use that right?) at 1130 River St. on Sept. 1 and 2. Organizers estimate there'll be 70 to 90 players.
