Kamloops RCMP seize 'several' loaded firearms and arrest four people after motel break-in

Four people are in custody after breaking into a Kamloops motel.

Kamloops Mounties say just before midnight on Thursday, a 911 caller notified police that the door at unit 17 at the Tournament Inn at 1892 East Trans Canada Highway had been broken.

When police arrived, all people inside tried to flee to avoid contact with the cops, according to a press release.

“Since police had the location surrounded, all occupants were arrested while exiting the unit, and upon further investigation, it was determined that four people had originally broken in … to wait for the primary resident, who was allegedly assaulted upon his arrival later,” reads the release.

"Several" loaded firearms were found in the room and seized.

Two men and two women are currently in custody and are under investigation.

“Considering the firearms that were seized, we're very thankful to have received this 911 call and to have been able to prevent whatever these people intended to do with them,” said Staff Sgt. Mathias Van Laer in the release.

All four are from Kamloops and are known to police.
