2020 Canada 55+ Games in Kamloops delayed until 2021

Seniors games postponed

The Kamloops 2020 Canada 55+ Games Host Committee and the Canadian Senior Games Association have decided to delay this year's games to 2021.

The decision was made due to the uncertainty of when the COVID-19 pandemic will end, according to a press release from the association.

"This decision is not solely about participant health — it is about public health. With COVID-19 and the associated risks, it is not safe for our participants, and the health and safety of their families to continue training or travelling to the 2020 Canada 55+ Games," the organization says in the release.

Hosting the event is a first for B.C. The games are expected to draw at least 2,500 participants, competing in over two dozen sports and activities, including pickleball, golf and Scrabble.
