Kamloops has another lottery winner

The River City must be home to a lot of lucky horseshoes because another lotto winner from Kamloops has been announced.

Joseph Kristmanson picked up a cool $1 million in the Lotto Max Maxmillion draw on Dec. 21.

The local bought the winning ticket at the General Grant's convenience store on Fortune Drive.

"I was checking a bunch of tickets. I couldn't believe it," Kristmanson says in a press release. "The retailer was stocking milk beside me and noticed I had won. She was so excited for me."

The Kamloops man has been playing Lotto Max regularly since it came out in 2009. Normally, he picks his own numbers. Not this time, though. He went with the Quick Pick option.

The first thing Kristmanson did after he found out he had won was call a close friend.

"He thought I was kidding," he says.

As for what he plans to do with his winnings, travel is definitely on the list.

"I'd like to go to Australia and I think I will plan something for the New Year.

"I will definitely be donating some of this win and help those that I can."

Kristmanson is among 39 British Columbians to win a Lotto Max Maxmillions prize in 2018. A Kamloops couple won the same prize in the Nov. 30 draw.

In September, a Kamloops woman picked up $1 million in the Lotto 6/49 draw.
