What a difference a year makes.
Though the Kamloops real estate market had fewer units sold this to start to the year, sales totaled over $72 million, an 8.6 per cent increase over January of 2018.
The value of the 175 units sold last month totaled $72,261,380 which included 157 residential units selling for $64,564,580. Last January saw 182 units worth $66,521,045 sell, of which 158 were residential.
Housing prices have not only climbed since last year, compared to last month, the median home price for Kamloops and area was also up. The median price for Kamloops and district homes in January 2019 was $429,500, up almost $5,000 from December 2018.
The close to last year was a slow one for Kamloops real estate, as only 133 units sold for just over $50 million in December 2018.
Last month also saw growth in the number of houses on the market. There were 443 new listings compared to 384 in January 2018 and 189 in December 2018.
There are currently 1439 active listings in the Kamloops area.
