The City of Kamloops is working to repair two water mains that broke last night (Feb. 7) in the downtown area.
One break, located under a sidewalk in the northeast corner of 441 Columbia St., flooded the Ponderosa Lodge retirement community. According to Interior Health, the home sustained water damage.
That break was located this morning and crews are now working on replacing the pipe.

Water from that break ran onto Columbia Street and Third and Fourth Avenue. Despite managing the icy conditions throughout the evening, the city is warning drivers in that area to proceed with caution.
Nearby Glenfair Estates has had their water shut off since last night. B.C. government offices located close to the break will also be closed for the day.
The other break was located in Lower Sahali, on Greenstone Drive between Bestwick Drive and Pyramid Court. As crews work on repairing that break, 20 houses in the area will be impacted by water service interruptions today.
The city anticipates both breaks being fixed by the end of the day. It's citing the recent extreme weather as the cause.
