On Our Radar: Check out this Kamloops parenting workshop

If you have kids and you’re at your wits' end, you may want to check out an upcoming parenting workshop.

Dr. Vanessa Lapoint, a South Surrey-based psychologist, parenting educator and mom-of-two, will be making the trip up to Kamloops later this month with her partner, David Loyst. The pair will be hosting Parenting 2.0 at the Henry Grube Education Centre on Saturday, April 27.

“This all-day workshop will allow parents to learn more about what their children need, as well as reflect upon the reasons why certain behaviours are so much more triggering than others,” reads a write-up about the event.

Part of the discussion will revolve around “positive parenting,” which calls for parents to move away from time-outs and other isolating punishments (Lapoint has been speaking out against this for years).

The workshop, geared toward parents of children ages zero to 19, will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The cost is $115/person or $200 for two members of the same family.
