TRU WolfPack lose to Okanagan, play in second CCBC semifinal this afternoon

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team has a busy afternoon ahead of them after falling to the Okanagan Coyotes 7-1 at Norbrock Stadium today (May 11).

With the loss, the WolfPack now have to play the University of Fraser Valley Cascades at 4 p.m. in the second semifinal of the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Conference (CCBC) Championship.

If TRU wins that matchup, they'll play the Coyotes again in a best-of-three final, starting tonight at 7 p.m.

The WolfPack got the early lead against Okanagan, scoring Taylor Van Ham on a Malik James double in the bottom of the first inning.

But their bats were silenced by pitcher Chris Wyslobocki after that. The Coyotes starter allowed just two hits and struck out nine batters over nine innings of work.

Offensively, Okanagan was led by Nolan King who went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. They were also helped by four WolfPack errors, including a few wild pitches in a five-run eighth inning that blew the game wide open.

Bryant Jameus took the loss for TRU despite a strong start, allowing five hits and one earned run over seven innings.

The WolfPack went 3-1 against their upcoming opponent, the Cascades, this season.
