Kamloops Venom roast Flames in rescheduled affair

The Kamloops Venom thumped the South Okanagan Flames 16-4 Thursday night (May 23) in front of their home fans, running their league-best record to 6-1 in Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League (TOJLL) action.

Originally scheduled for May 11, this contest between the Venom and the Flames was pushed to last night after South Okanagan's bus broke down on the way to Kamloops.

After last night's blowout, it's still unclear if South Okanagan ever made it to the city.

The Venom jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first period and never looked back.

Trey Dergousoff led the scoring with four goals; Kordell Primus added a hat trick of his own; Dominick Young, Callum Gorman and Mykl Drabiuk had two goals and Bill Brewer, Chris Finden and Drew Bannister chipped in one each.

Troy Cuzzetto had 34 saves on 38 shots.

The Flames will get a shot at redemption tomorrow night (May 25), when they visit the Memorial Arena for a rematch with the Venom.

Gametime is 7:30 p.m.
