Toronto Blue Jays star Roberto Alomar coming to Kamloops to teach baseball

Young Kamloops baseball players will be able to get some tips next month from one of the greatest players to have ever swung a bat in the sport.

Roberto Alomar is coming to Kamloops.

Yes, that Roberto Alomar, the baseball hall of famer with 12 All-Star Game appearances, 10 Gold Gloves, four Silver Slugger awards, an American League MVP award and, of course, two World Series rings from the Toronto Blue Jays' back-to-back 1992 and '93 championships.

Quite the career, and we didn't get a chance to look a the stats he put up.

Suffice it to say, he's a legend with bat and glove.

He'll be part of the Blue Jays Baseball Academy Super Camp July 16 and 17 at McArthur Island. Kamloops will be one of two stops for the camp in B.C., and the only one in B.C.'s Interior.

Yes, that McArthur Island, located on Kamloops' North Shore, and an award winner itself.

Alomar will be joined by other Blue Jay alumni: World Series winner Homer Bush, Silver Slugger winner Lloyd Moseby and four-time Gold Glove winner Orlando Hudson.

The four retired pros will be leading the camp aimed at nine- to 16-year-olds, along with a team of instructors.

"Participants will receive a Blue Jays hat, T-shirt, baseball manual with information to take home to continue to develop their baseball skills, and autographs from the alumni present," according to a press release from the Blue Jays.

Registration for the two-day camp is $219 plus tax, per participant. For more information, click HERE.
