On Our Radar: Harry Potter rock band coming to Kamloops for a wizard of a show

The downtown Kamloops library is going to feel a little like Hogwarts next week, if Hogwarts had rock shows.

Harry and the Potters, a band that plays songs based on the Harry Potter book series, is headed to the library for a Monday, July 15 show.

The band, made up of brothers Paul and Joe DeGeorge from Norwood, Massachusetts, will be playing a free, family-friendly, drop-in gig as part of their wizarding world tour. Their first full-length album, "Lumos" dropped in June.

Playing songs like The Trace, Save Ginny Weasley and Pancakes Leviosa, the duo mix a pop-punk musical style with Gryffindor gear and references to Hedwig and incantations. They've even done multiple Christmas albums.

The show fits in well with with the summer reading program at the library "Into the Wizarding World" which runs tomorrow, July 12 from noon to 4 p.m. at the library (kids get to make a wand). It's aimed at children six to 12 years old.

Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. for the event with the show starting at 7 p.m.

On Our Radar is just a thing we do when we're looking forward to an event or think the public should be aware of it. Think you have something for it? Email us at [email protected].
