ScotDance2020 coming to Kamloops

Are you a fan of Scottish culture, in particular, the dancing?

Then get excited as the ScotDance Canada Championship Series will be coming to Kamloops in 2020.

Not sure what it is? Then thank God we’re here to tell you.

ScotDance is a group who promote and educate people about Highland (Scottish) dancing in Canada; they organize competitions all over the country which include various age groups. The championship series is their biggest event of the year.

Alongside the dancing, there’ll also be a broadsword challenge, riverside celebration and pin exchange.

The competition is expected to have close to 1,000 dancers from Canada, the US and Australia. Organizers estimate around 4,000 people to come over the multi-day series.

They held the first event under the Canadian Championship name in 2013 and the 2019 edition was hosted in Moncton.

The showcase will take place from July 2–7 at the Sandman Centre, writes Lorena Harrison, chair of the 2020 event, in an email.
