CP Holiday Train returning to Kamloops with Terri Clark

The CP Holiday Train will be chugging through Kamloops and neighbouring communities again this winter, bringing Christmas light-lit railcars and a stage to the city's core.

Terri Clark has been announced as one of the performers who will play in the Tournament Capital on Dec. 15. A second musical act is going to be announced later this year.

The annual holiday train event is a fundraiser for local food banks along the holiday train's route. According to CP Rail, more than $15.8 million has been raised and 4.5 million pounds of food has been collected.

This is the holiday train's 20th year.

There are two trains, now, with a Canadian train setting off from Montreal on Nov. 26 and travelling through to Port Coquitlam (where it ends on Dec. 17). A second train, travelling primarily through the U.S., starts in Montreal on Nov. 25 and heads through New York State, southern Ontario and the American midwest (with stops in places like Chicago and Milwaulkee) before heading back into Canada and wrapping up in Alberta.

For the Kamloops leg, the train will be in Chase for a Dec. 15 show, around 2:35 p.m. It'll arrive in Kamloops around 4:30 p.m. and with the free show starting at 5 p.m. It'll then move on to Savona for a show around 7 p.m. and then to Ashcroft with a show scheduled for 8:45 p.m. The next day (Dec. 16), it moves on to Lytton and beyond.

For those in the Shuswap, it does have shows in that area on Dec. 14, including an 8 p.m. show in Salmon Arm and a 9:30 p.m. show in Notch Hill.
