Winter storm warnings issued east of Kamloops

Environment Canada has issued winter storm warnings and snowfall warnings for regions east of Kamloops, meaning if you're headed in that direction, you'd best drive carefully.

According to the online bulletin, "a slow-moving frontal system will remain over the B.C. Interior today," which should cause heavy snowfall of as much as 40 cm in some areas.

Regions that are affected by these warnings include the Shuswap, North and West Columbia and Arrow Lakes. The winter storm warning includes the Trans-Canada Highway stretch from Revelstoke to Golden, as well as the Yellowhead Highway from near Valemount to the Alberta border.

"Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow," says the warning.
