2019 best year ever for Kamloops Airport

The gates were busy at the Kamloops Airport last year.

People passed through those gates more than 360,000 times in 2019, according to a news release from Ed Ratuski, the airport's manager.

"Kamloops Airport continues to experience overall sustained growth, surpassing last year's record growth by 2.75 per cent and marking our best year to date," he writes in the release. "Although passenger numbers declined in the third and fourth quarters as projected, the year ended strong with 34,884 passengers being served in the month of December."

Nearly 10,000 more passengers got on to planes at Fulton Field this year.

Ratuski thanks the airlines running out of the airport for reaching the milestone. Central Mountain Air, WestJet and Air Canada all run flights regularly.

He also notes 2020 will see budget airline Swoop come to town, with non-stop flights to Edmonton. He does not mention the future of Air Canada's direct flight to Toronto.
