Kamloops YMCA to receive $10K donation from Bell for mental-health class

As winter blows outside, January can be an important time for mental health.

With that in mind, the Kamloops YMCA-YWCA is pleased to be receiving $10,000 from the Bell Let's Talk Community Fund. The money will go toward funding an additional mental wellness program for people struggling with anxiety, depression and self-compassion, according to a press release.

"We are excited to expand our current mindfulness-based programming in Kamloops and the surrounding areas," says local YMCA-YWCA program manager Jenna Nickle in the release.

The Mindful Self Compassion program is an eight-week, evidence-based class aimed at teaching people strategies to improve mental health.

Bell's Let's Talk Day returns Jan. 29. The one day campaign aims to raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental health.
