PHOTOS: There was a puppy parade at TRU and we took adorable photos of it

What brings university students together better than puppies?

The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Wellness Centre and St. John Ambulance’s therapy dogs celebrated seven years at the university with a puppy parade this afternoon.

TRU first introduced the volunteer therapy dogs into their weekly events in 2014 and they instantly became a hit with students and faculty alike.

Every Thursday, students can take a break from their day and hang out with the always-welcoming therapy dogs.

“I’ve been with the Wellness Centre for many years and this has to be the most successful program we’ve ever done,” says Chelsea Corsi, Wellness Centre coordinator.

One student mentioned that the therapy dogs filled the void of leaving her family dog at home while she studied at TRU.

Over the years, Corsi estimates that the therapy dogs and their volunteer companions have put in close to 700 hours with TRU.

The therapy dogs are on campus every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Student Street in the Old Main building.
