Individual with virus visited Kamloops Anavets club: Interior Health

Virus exposure at Anavets

Interior Health (IH) is warning the Kamloops community of possible COVID-19 exposure after an individual carrying the virus visited the Anavets 290 Army and Navy Club at 9-177 Tranquille Rd. last month.

According to a PSA from the health authority, the person was at the club between March 13 and 17.

"Anyone who visited Anavets 290 on these dates and who has developed respiratory symptoms within 14 days of their visit needs to self-isolate at home for a minimum of 10 days from the time their symptoms develop and until the symptoms resolve," says IH in a statement.

Anavets 290 closed its doors to the public on March 18, after the B.C. government ordered all clubs and bars to close to stop the spread of the virus.

"Anavets 290 is aware of this potential exposure to visitors and club members and is taking measures to share this information with them directly," says Interior Health.

IH is reminding the public that COVID-19 testing is not required for those who have mild respiratory symptoms. If respiratory symptoms worsen, you're asked to call 811 or your health-care provider. You can also use the province's online self-assessment tool.

Earlier today, Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.'s chief medical health officer, announced 29 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., for a total of 1,203 cases; of those, 128 cases are in the Interior Health region.
