TRU gives students option for late withdrawals due to COVID-19

TRU offers withdrawals

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students at Thompson Rivers University can choose to withdraw from their courses much later than usual this semester.

The university has announced that students who were taking on-campus courses during the Winter 2020 semester may choose to get a 'W' for withdrawal instead of their final grade.

"As a temporary measure, students who feel their final grades have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 situation may elect to withdraw from the course, resulting in a grade of 'W' with no impact on their GPA," the university states on its website.

This also applies to Open Learning courses that started between Aug. 15, 2019, and Mar. 31, 2020 and were not completed by Mar. 15.

The withdrawal date had been Feb. 28. Tuition and fees won't be refunded. Students cannot choose to receive a 'W' if their final grade was the result of an academic integrity committee ruling.
