Second Kamloops drive-in movie event coming soon

Another drive-in coming

If you missed this weekend's outdoor drive-in experience, it's not the only one happening around Kamloops this summer.

For two nights next weekend, a silver screen will be set up in a parking lot. This time it'll be at Lyons Landscaping off Halston Avenue (1271 Salish Rd.).

On July 4 and 5 Fresh Air Cinema, a company specializing in movies outdoors, will be setting up with one film per night. On Saturday, July 4, it'll be Onward, the newest film from Pixar. The animated family film was due to be released this spring, but COVID-19 caused those plans to change.

It follows two elf brothers on their quest to spend another day with their father, who has died.

Sunday's film will be Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the one-off film that directly precedes the first Star Wars film (aka Star Wars IV: A New Hope). It was released in 2016.

Tickets for both are available June 29th at 5 p.m. at this link. The event is a fundraiser for the Kamloops Food Bank; as such, the suggested donation is $30, but it's up to the person paying.

The crowd is limited to 50 cars, and organizers are asking anyone who gets a ticket and can't use it to let them know, as they expect both nights to sell out.

Social distancing rules are in place, including no mingling at the event, no sitting outside of vehicles and no food for sale at the event.

The upcoming event follows three nights of sold out drive-in films at McArthur Island this weekend.
