Police arrest wanted Kamloops man in Valleyview

Man arrested in Valleyview

Mounties arrested a 36-year-old man in Valleyview Friday afternoon (July 3).

According to a news release, police say the individual from Kamloops is well-known to them. He has multiple outstanding warrants and has caused police pursuits in the past.

RCMP located the man around 1:40 p.m., while he was parked at a Valleyview business.

Police converged on the vehicle and attempted to box it in. The man rammed a police vehicle and escaped, but had his tires spiked soon after.

The man dumped the vehicle; however, he was located and arrested a short distance later, thanks to a police dog and help from the public.

"Police have been hunting this individual down to arrest him for too long and it's great to have him off the streets," writes Sgt. Jeff Bingley in the release.

The man will be held for weekend court for the outstanding warrants, along with new charges from today's incident.
