Are you an artist who's looking for a performance venue?
Western Canada Theatre (WCT) is currently accepting proposals for the Pavilion Theatre this fall.
It's all part of the YKAStrong series, which will run from September to December.
"The YKAStrong series is designed to showcase the best of performing arts in Kamloops and region. It is aimed at introducing emerging voices to the stage in Kamloops, to provide performance opportunity for established local artists, to encourage experimentation and innovation in performance styles, and to encourage dialogue about important issues facing our community," reads a write-up from WCT.
So what are they looking for? Original plays, cabarets, music, dance/movement, art installations, events, spoken word, lectures, and conversations.
Projects that combine a live audience experience with livestream or other recording potential are welcomed.
"We encourage new plays, projects, and experimental works, specifically pieces that align with WCT’s mandate to develop and promote new Canadian and Indigenous work," states the call-out.
The Pavilion Theatre will be set up with cabaret seating for 45 people, with a small stage and a basic, universal scenic design. Staff will provide full technical, lighting and marketing support.
WCT anticipates social distancing guidelines will still be in place by the fall, so artists are encouraged to keep that in mind for their performances.
Each successful applicant will receive an honourarium, plus a box office split.
The application deadline is July 31.
