Papa G's holding pizza fundraiser for Jessie Simpson

Buy pizza, support Jessie

Papa G's has launched a pizza fundraiser to help Jessie Simpson return home.

Simpson was assaulted by Kristopher Teichrieb during the early morning hours of June 19, 2016. The then-teen sustained a catastrophic brain injury, along with many other physical injuries that have left him bedridden and wheelchair-bound in a full-time care facility.

Gerald Thiessen, owner of Papa G's in downtown Kamloops, wanted to do something to help the Simpsons.

For the next month, he's offering two large pizzas (pepperoni or Hawaiian) for $30. Five bucks from each order will be donated to Jessie, to help mom Sue upgrade her home for her son.

Thiessen began the fundraiser yesterday (July 13).

"We sold 18 pizzas," he tells Castanet. "It was a good start."

Thiessen met Sue for the very first time last week, he says.

"We sat down and I told her what I would be willing to do here, and she could share it on her Facebook page and get her friends to share it."

The local restauranteur doesn't have a target for how many pizzas he'd like to see go out the door.

"I know I've made lots of pizza dough and I'm prepared to make it every day if I have to," he says.

Papa G's is located at 258 Victoria St. The fundraiser runs into mid-August.
