Two house fires just blocks away from each other were unrelated

Two residential fires in Kamloops that were just two blocks from each other Friday afternoon appear to be unrelated.

The Kamloops RCMP say the house fire on Aspen Park Drive and the fire two blocks away on Reighmount Drive do not appear to be related, “based on the investigation so far.”

At about 2:45 p.m., fire crews responded to the first fire at 4831 Aspen Park Drive, where the fire had spread to a neighbouring home. No one from either home was injured in the fire, but at least one of the homes involved appeared completely destroyed.

Just 30 minutes later, a second fire was reported just two blocks away on Reighmount Drive. Both occupants made it out of that home as well, and crews were able to extinguish the blaze.

While fire investigators have concluded the fire on Reighmount was not suspicious in nature, the cause of the Aspen Park Drive fire remains under investigation.
