Police conduct 'high risk' stop of vehicle driving dangerously on hwy

Reckless driver had BB gun

The Merritt RCMP received multiple reports of a road rage incident that ended in a highway takedown Thursday.

A vehicle was reported to be travelling north towards Merritt on the Coquihalla Highway, with callers complaining it was driving recklessly, including tailgating and driving aggressively.

One complainant claimed that an occupant in the vehicle was waving a handgun around.

Merritt RCMP conducted a high risk vehicle stop with the vehicle on Hwy 5 at the junction with the Okanagan Connector.

Three males were taken into custody.

The investigation is still in its early stages, however the handgun has been determined to be a BB gun.

Police say the investigation is on-going.
