Police seek additional victims after Kamloops man arrested following alleged Good Samaritan sex assault

More sex assault victims?

A Kamloops man has been arrested after sexually assaulting a Good Samaritan, police say, and investigators think more victims may be out there.

According to Mounties, a man approached a vehicle in Riverside Park early Sunday morning and asked the woman inside for a ride, saying he’d been injured and needed help.

The woman told police she was sexually assaulted during the ensuing drive. A suspect was arrested a short time later.

“Although police cannot go into specifics at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, it is believed there may be more victims and witnesses who have yet to come forward,” RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.

“We urge any witnesses or victims to please contact Kamloops RCMP.”

Cody Joseph, 24, is facing one count of sexual assault. He remains in custody with an appearance in Kamloops provincial court slated for Monday.

Anyone with information, or any additional complainants, can contact police at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
