Pair facing gun charges after driving into Kamloops RCMP parking lot with shotgun

Mounties find shotgun in car

A man and a woman are facing firearms charges after driving into a downtown Kamloops police parking lot armed with a shotgun, Mounties say.

RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn said officers noticed a black Mercedes driving the wrong way down Columbia Street just before 10 30 p.m. on Monday.

Mounties followed the car toward the Kamloops RCMP’s detachment in the 500-block of Battle Street.

“Police attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it did not stop and instead slowed down and continued driving before entering the ‘police only’ parking lot, where officers were able to block it inside,” Evelyn said.

Evelyn said police got a man and a woman out of the Mercedes before noticing a shotgun in the front seat.

Napoleon James Tallthunderboy Ross, 32, and Lanaesha Sha’Lynn Paul-Paquette, 23, are facing firearms-related charges. Ross is also facing additional counts of dangerous driving and failing to stop.

Ross and Paul-Paquette are expected to appear in Kamloops provincial court on March 4.
