Kamloops woman may face charges after cop kicked, security guard punched, police say

Woman kicks cop in head

A Kamloops woman could face assault charges after punching a security guard and then kicking a police officer, Mounties say.

RCMP said they were called to the 300-block of Columbia Street at about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday after a security guard was punched a number of times by a woman, who then drove off in a car.

“Police received a description, located the vehicle and arrested the driver shortly after,” RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.

“While being transported to cells, the woman allegedly became combative, damaging equipment in the police vehicle and kicking a police officer in the head.”

Evelyn said the officer was uninjured.

According to Evelyn, the same woman was arrested on Friday night after Mounties responded to a report of a disturbance on Sicamore Drive in Westsyde. In that instance, the woman was held in custody until sober.

“The investigation is ongoing and charges may be recommended once it is complete,” Evelyn said.
