BCLC plans to celebrate Pride month by raising Progress flag, showing off new crosswalk

BCLC raises flag for Pride

The B.C. Lottery Corporation is celebrating pride month by raising a flag and unveiling a new addition to its Kamloops headquarters.

On Thursday, BCLC will raise the Progress flag — which is similar to the rainbow flag but adds chevron stripes in various colours, representing marginalized communities and pointing to the right to show progress.

The Crown corporation says the flag will be flown 24-7 outside its downtown building to show an “ongoing commitment to and celebration of pride, diversity, inclusion and belonging.”

At the same time, BCLC will also be unveiling an updated Pride crosswalk at its office.

No uninvited spectators will be allowed to attend Thursday's unveiling due to COVID-19 public health orders.
