A slight smoky haze was seen over Kamloops Thursday morning. Two wildfires sprung up in the Kamloops Fire Centre region overnight.
Smoke is visible in the Tournament Capital Thursday morning as two wildfires sprung up in the Kamloops Fire Centre area overnight.
According to BC Wildfire Service, a fire near Lytton is estimated at 10 hectares in size. The blaze is located about seven kilometres south of the village, near Highway 1.
On Wednesday, 25 firefighters — supported by helicopters and air tankers — were onsite, and three crew members were expected to stay overnight.
BC Wildfire Services said they are also responding to a second wildfire near Merritt, estimated at nine hectares.
The fire is located close to Highway 97C.
On Wednesday, 31 crew members responded to fight the blaze.
