Tk’emlups to present full report next week on findings at unmarked graveyard near residential school

Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc will present to the public a report on the unmarked graves found at the former site of the Kamloops Indian Residential School next week.

In May, Chief Rosanne Casimir of the Tk’emlups te Secwépemc First Nation announced that using ground-penetrating radar, they had found the remains of 215 children buried near the former residential school.

The tragic discovery has garnered international attention and led to others across Canada seeking out, and finding, the remains of children at other former residential school sites.

In a press release Friday, Tk’emlups te Secwépemc announced they would be holding a virtual and in-person press conference on the morning of Thursday July 15, to share their full findings from their use of ground-penetrating radar at the Kamloops site.

Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Chief Casimir will speak at the presentation, along with a ground-penetrating radar specialist and survivors from the Kamloops Indian Residential School.
