Emergency crews are on scene in Batchelor Heights on Wednesday afternoon where an apparent gas leak has prompted a number of evacuations.

UPDATED: 3:18 p.m.

Residents in Batchelor Heights were given the all clear on Wednesday afternoon after about 45 harrowing minutes following the report of a gas leak.

Crews were in the process of evacuating a handful of homes in the Saddleback Drive area when residents were given the all clear at about 3:10 p.m. and told they could return home. Police could then be seen removing their perimeter.

A suspected gas leak in the area had been reported at about 2:30 p.m.

A handful of homes in Batchelor Heights are being evacuated on Wednesday due to a suspected gas leak in the area.

Kamloops Fire Rescue crews were called to a home in the Saddleback Drive area just before 2:30 p.m. for a report of gas fumes.
