Police find stolen Gyldi's Pizza truck at Kamloops gas station

Stolen pizza truck recovered

Thanks to social media — and some concerned community members — the Gyldi’s Pizza truck has been found, a little worse for wear.

On Friday morning, owners of the well-known Kamloops food truck, started receiving multiple calls from community members saying they had spotted the bright red truck.

Sylvia Nino of Gyldi’s said she asked the callers to call the police with the location of the truck. Nino told Castanet Kamloops the police arrested the driver of their stolen truck, at at the Petro Canada station in Dallas.

Upon viewing their beloved truck, Nino and her husband realized getting the vehicle back is only the first step before the couple can start dishing up pies.

“We saw it's a mess inside. We are just going to start doing the cleaning and everything to be able to [find out] what is the damage,” Nino said,

“But right now, we got it back, we have the main equipment inside,” she said explaining that the expensive restaurant appliances were still inside.

Despite the loss of inventory and the mess, the couple is feeling very relieved to have their truck back.

“Finally, we [can] have a rest, because this last day wasn't the best day of our life.” Nino told Castanet Kamloops.

Nino said she and her husband were blown away with the community support they received since they found out their truck had been stolen. It was nowhere to be seen on Thursday morning when the couple showed up to start the work day just before 10 a.m.

“It was the people who found it, because everyone was calling, and I was just answering one phone then the other phone,” she recalled.

According to the owners, they wouldn’t have their truck back if it wasn’t for the the help of the the community.

“We just want to give a great big thank you to the community, they helped us to find the food truck,” Nino said.
