Yew Street Food Hall starts construction on the North Shore

Fancy food coming to NS

The North Shore is soon to be home to a “first of it’s kind” food hall.

Construction has begun on the ground floor at The Colours on Spirit Square building on Yew Street, with hopes of opening the Yew Street Food Hall late summer or early fall.

Partner on the project Jeff Mitton said breaking ground is a big step.

“It’s an exciting time for us as we start to see the Food Hall concept coming close to becoming a reality,” Mitton said.

At full capacity the new venue will seat 222 inside, and the hope is to create outdoor seating as well.

The Yew Food Hall plans to have 10 different stalls- three of which will be the anchor restaurant, called Mittz and Co. (a product of Mittz Kitchen on Victoria Street) featuring a food and two bar stalls. The other seven stalls are 80 square feet each and will feature local restaurants— sharing a large community kitchen.

As of Saturday the local restaurants who have signed on to the projects include Harvest Moon Bakery, Pizza Pie, Veggie Bomb, as well as a taco and fresh pasta place, both of which are yet to be named.

The food hall is still looking for two more vendors to fill its remaining spots.
