Kamloops man facing eight charges after allegedly crashing vehicle downtown

Charges in downtown crash

A Kamloops man is facing eight charges after an alleged vehicle crash turned into a foot chase in downtown Kamloops.

In the early afternoon on July 15, Kamloops RCMP said Mounties responded to a report of two suspicious vehicles parked in a garage on Lansdowne Street.

Officers reported the licence plate on one of the vehicles — a pickup truck — had been reported stolen earlier that week.

According to RCMP, officers tried to stop the pickup truck, which allegedly fled the scene, and then collided with a white Mazda at the intersection of Columbia Street and Sixth Avenue.

The suspect, 33-year-old Sean Patrick Nicholson, was said to have taken off on foot, but was arrested shortly thereafter.

Nicholson is currently being held in custody and facing charges for dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm, failing to stop after a collision, failure to stop a motor vehicle for police, resisting or obstructing police, possession of stolen property, driving while prohibited and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 3.
